Leave to appeal denied by SCC in TD Bank constructive dismissal case

On January 20, 2000, the Supreme Court of Canada denied leave to appeal in Schumacher v. Toronto-Dominion Bank, last reported in the October 1999 issue of FOCUS (see “Ontario Court of Appeal upholds record constructive dismissal award” on our Publications page). Schumacher will now receive more than $2 million from the Bank, consisting of $1.7 million in damages for wrongful dismissal, plus interest and costs.
