Job Summary

Our unique in-house Research Department is one of the pillars of our client partnership model. Under the direction of the Director of Research, our Research Team is made up of professionals (including lawyers) with a variety of backgrounds who have focused their careers on research.

The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Director of Research and Research team.  The successful candidate will be a key player in client service delivery.

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Input and validate lawyers’ time dockets; coordinate lawyers’ monthly/yearly docket totals as requested.
  • Track lawyers’ Law Society of Ontario (LSO) Continuing Professional Development hours, and input into the LSO portal.
  • Support case preparation by assembling materials required during hearings.
  • Maintain electronic copies of all documentation in Emond Harnden’s database to supplement available precedents.
  • Assist with the planning, organization, and registration of firm seminars/webinars.
  • Assist with the development and distribution of firm newsletters and email bulletins.
  • Library maintenance.
  • Other administrative tasks as required. This is an evolving role and responsibilities will expand over time.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Undergraduate University Degree in a related field.
  • Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize, multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure in order to meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when completing tasks.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel.
  • Ability to produce high quality and quantity of work product, even under tight timelines.
  • Ability to take instructions, manage ongoing tasks, and follow through on assignments.
