Job Summary

Reporting to the HR and Operations Manager, the Legal Administrative Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative support in a legal environment and will be a key player in client service delivery.

As part of the dynamic LA support team, you will:

  • Open new client files and matters.
  • Perform conflict searches, create, and maintain files, and close files as instructed.
  • Prepare legal documents, including (but not limited to) affidavits, briefs, motions, subpoenas, appearance sheets, minutes of settlement, release agreements, etc.
  • Maintain electronic copies of all documentation in Emond Harnden’s database to supplement available precedents.
  • Input and validate Lawyers’ time dockets.
  • Provide direct support to first-year associates.
  • Other miscellaneous legal support duties as required.

 

For this role, you will need to have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to produce a high volume of high-quality work under tight deadlines while managing competing priorities.
  • The ability to provide an excellent customer service and ensuring professionalism.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office & Adobe Pro, as well as the ability to learn new technologies as necessary.
  • Be fluently bilingual in English and French.
