  • New federal labour standards are coming into effect on September 1
    Federally regulated employers should familiarize themselves with the new standards and their new obligations, and rights, under those standards. Employers should also review their policies and practices in order to be ready to respond to new requests from employees.

    Class action certification – passengers on Air Canada flights between YUL-FRA and CDG-YUL introduced class action to dispute fuel surcharge – alleged that Air Canada violated own contractual definition of fuel surcharge – definition limited Air Canada to charging a partial cost of fluctuation in fuel price – Air Canada allegedly charged in excess – class action permitted to proceed
