Status: Full-time, Permanent

Reports to: Finance Manager

Location: Ottawa, Hybrid

Salary range: $75,000-$95,000

Duties and Responsibilities

Working closely with the Finance Department (team of 5) and under the direction of the Finance Manager, the Accountant will serve as the second-in-command, responsible for performing a variety of tasks, including the following:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare month-end reporting, including financial statement preparation, data analysis, and account reconciliations for review by the Finance Manager
  • Oversee daily financial operations (billing cycle, bank reconciliations, AR/AP, payroll)
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for associates
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to the Finance team, ensuring departmental goals are met
  • Work closely with the Finance Manager to develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to enhance financial discipline
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation to increase efficiency within the team
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and legal requirements
  • Perform other ad-hoc financial tasks as required

Qualifications: 2

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) or working toward certification
  • Experience in full-cycle accounting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office (Excel)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to collaborate and communicate complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset
