Kecia Podetz


Kecia, a partner with Emond Harnden, practices exclusively in the areas of labour and employment. She is a capable and experienced advocate who represents employers in grievance arbitration proceedings, before human rights tribunals, and in employment-related litigation. Her clients include those in the not-for-profit, health, manufacturing, technology and professional services sectors, as well as First Nation governments and related organizations.

Kecia is a practical and skilled negotiator with experience in a variety of unionized workplaces. She has advised on and led numerous workplace investigations and she has advised clients on labour and employment matters arising on purchase and sale. Kecia is passionate about providing guidance and advice to her clients in their day-to-day human resources matters, including statutory compliance, development and review of employment agreements and policies, attendance management, benefits and pension, and on matters that may lead to discipline or dismissal.

Kecia is an experienced and dynamic presenter who is regularly called upon to speak at conferences and to lead seminars on a diverse range of labour, employment and human rights matters, including respect in the workplace, accommodation and managing in a unionized workplace. In 2012 and 2013, Kecia taught employment law to future human resources professionals at Algonquin College.


Kecia began practicing labour and employment law in Nova Scotia (2001) and now practices in Ontario (2003).

Kecia is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the County of Carleton Law Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association, the Advocates’ Society, the Women’s Business Network, the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers (CACE), and the CACE Human Rights Subcommittee.

She is the Vice President of the Crossroads Children’s Centre Board of Directors and is actively involved in her local community.
