It has now been three years since the COVID-19 pandemic forced many Canadian workplaces to temporarily shut down or pivot, virtually overnight, to having their employees work remotely to protect their health and safety.
Although measures such as vaccination have since allowed businesses to re-open and employees to return to work, many continue to work either entirely remotely or on a hybrid basis and may do so indefinitely.
With widespread remote work being a relatively recent development in Canadian workplaces, employers are facing new challenges. One in particular is the inability to directly supervise employees and the increased trust that must accordingly be placed in them, something that is not without risk.
On April 18th, join Emond Harnden’s Kecia Podetz and Jake Tolton as they discuss some of the risks that can arise when a remote worker isn’t working when or where they say they are, and what employers can do to mitigate against these risks.
