Plaintiff bought tickets for travel from Brazil to Montreal, via the U.S. – plaintiff and daughter denied boarding due to American regulation prohibiting layover of passengers travelling from Brazil during pandemic – airline was aware of regulation at time of sale – airline breached contractual obligation to provide flight purchased – airline permitted purchase of flight that it knew could not be completed, failed to inform passengers and failed to provide timely alternative – plaintiff entitled to $2,633 for flight costs, COVID-19 tests, lost wages and expenses – Court noted that reimbursement of flight costs took into account passengers’ stress and inconvenience
